Your files, in plain terms
Where they are stored, how they are protected, what happens if the connection drops and when they are deleted.
- Files encrypted and stored in the EU
- No AI on your files
- Deleted when the link ends
Where the files are
Your files are stored in the European Union, with Cloudflare, whose worldwide network receives the upload as close as possible to the sender. Upload and download go through an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Even without a password, your link is private: only the people you send it to know it.
- Download pages are not indexed: they cannot be found on Google or other search engines, and no list of transfers is public
- Each link ends with 10 randomly drawn characters, more than 3 quadrillion combinations: there is no way to stumble upon it
- If you pick the end of the link yourself, like /wedding-photos, it still cannot be found on search engines and disappears on its end date. For sensitive files, we recommend adding a password
- No artificial intelligence tool accesses your files: they are not analyzed and are never used to train any model
- Your files are only used for your transfer: they are never sold or used for advertising
How they are protected
Your files are protected at every step. During upload and download, they go through an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Once stored, they are encrypted with AES-256 on our servers' disks: even with physical access to those disks, they would be unreadable.
They are stored in the European Union, then deleted automatically when the transfer expires or as soon as you delete them.
To go further, you can protect a transfer with a password: only the people who know it will be able to access the files.
- Your recipient has nothing to install: they type the password and download as usual
- We only keep a fingerprint of the password, used to check it
If the connection drops
A large file is sent in 8 MB pieces. The ones that have arrived stay on our servers. If the connection drops, the upload pauses, then starts again at the current piece as soon as it is back: you do not start over.
- Keep the page open: closing it stops the upload, which will not resume later
- An upload that is never finished is erased from our servers after 12 hours
- On download too, a file or a ZIP picks up where it stopped
When they are deleted
You choose the end date of your link, with or without an account: up to 7 days without an account, up to 15 days with a free account. You can make it as short as you like. On that date, the transfer and its files are deleted from our servers.
- Deletion runs every hour: an expired link is gone within the following hour
- If you limited the number of downloads, the link closes once that number is reached, and the files are deleted the next day
- With an account, you delete a transfer whenever you want from your space
- A file request is deleted on its end date, with the files dropped there
